The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is a modern, pioneering University able to offer education and high-level research in leading branches of science and technology which have high impact on the economic, technical, and scientific sectors. With its orientation towards applied research, the University aspires to establish for itself a role in support of the state and society in their efforts to confront problems, which cover all areas of science, communication and technology. The courses of Cyprus University of Technology, to a large extent, complement scientific areas, which are not currently covered at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels by the University of Cyprus or any other institution of higher education in the country.

CUT was founded by law in December 2003 and welcomed its first students in September 2007. It is based in the City of Limassol (Lemesos), where four out of five faculties are located. The Faculty of Geotechnical Sciences and Environmental Management, the Faculty of Management and Economics, the Faculty of Applied Arts and Communication, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The Faculty of Health Sciences, is located in Nicosia (Lefkosia), the capital of Cyprus.

Limassol City (Lemesos)

Limassol or Lemesos is the second-largest city in Cyprus, with a population of 228,000 (2008), the largest city in geographical size, and the biggest municipality on the island.

The city is located on Akrotiri Bay, on the island’s southern coast and it is the capital of Limassol District. Limassol is the biggest port in the Mediterranean transit trade. It has also become one of the most important tourism, trade and service-providing centres in the area. Limassol is renowned for its long cultural tradition and is home to the Cyprus University of Technology. A wide spectrum of activities and several museums, archaeological sites, small galleries and experimental art spaces are available to the interested visitor. Consequently, Limassol attracts a wide range of tourists mostly during an extended summer season to be accommodated in a variety of hotels and apartments.
